Creating the world’s lightest production road bike frame – 585 grams – required every gram of our 49 years of experience, making it a fitting canvas to celebrate the founding of Specialized. In 1973 it was a love of cycling that inspired Mike Sinyard to sell his VW van, pack up his bike and go riding in Italy. It was on that trip that Mike fell in love with the quality, beauty and ride quality of Italian components. He set out to bring them to U.S. cyclists, and Specialized Bicycle Components was born. The combination of the Aethos with the pinnacle of Italian components pays homage to Mike’s love of cycling and Italian culture.
  • The frame of the S-Works Aethos has been designed to achieve the perfect combination of maximum ride quality, lightness and style: from acceleration on steep slopes and technical descents, to the comfort it offers all day long, even on the longest rides, the Aethos is perfect.
    Breaking all the “traditional” rules of manufacturing and reinventing the traditional bike tube shapes of the past, we’ve subtly altered these shapes to deliver huge gains in stiffness and balance, all without compromising weight or durability.
    Add to this a completely new lamination process, which eliminates the need for additional layers of stiffness, and you get the lightest frame on the market (585 grams, S-Works, size 56 cm).
  • A lightweight frame is useless without confidence-inspiring ride characteristics, which is why we developed the S-Works Aethos to have the perfect balance of front and rear stiffness, combined with exceptional ride quality.
    By studying the behavior and flex of carbon fiber, we’ve made groundbreaking discoveries about how forces flow through a frame.
    With just a few pedal strokes, you’ll realize that this sublime ride sets a new standard.
  • Campagnolo has provided its new top-of-the-range Super Record EPS groupset and Hyperon wheels for this limited edition Aethos.
    The new 2 x 12-speed groupset uses wireless shifting from the cockpit, new ergonomics and new shifting logic for smooth, crisp and fast shifting.
    A wider range of gears and ultra-light Campagnolo Hyperon wheels are the perfect companions for the Aethos’ unrivalled climbing capability.
